There is a video narrated by Liam Neeson on Live8. Various renowned artists clothed in white, snapping their fingers once, every three seconds. Every snap of a finger signifies a child’s life snuffed out by hunger.
A child dies completely unnecessarily as a result of extreme proverty every 3 seconds.
There we go.
Thats another one.
The thing is — all these deaths are avoidable.
There is another video, this one of children living in the streets of Africa. Norah Jones sings quietly in the background.
Eyes wide open
Always hoping for the sun
And she’ll sing her song to anyone
That comes along . . .
Fragile as a leaf in autumn
Just fallin’ to the ground
Without a sound . . .
Spinning, laughing, dancing to her
A little girl with nothing wrong
And she’s all alone . . .
I used to think there was nothing I could do to help. As it turns out, there is.
