Studies of CLA in human diets show that it tends to reduce body fat, particularly abdominal fat, improves serum lipid profiles, and decreases whole-body glucose uptake. That’s according to the wikipedia entry on CLA.
Of all foods, kangaroo meat may have the highest concentration of CLA. Food products (e.g. mutton and beef) from grass-fed ruminants are good sources of CLA, and contain much more of it than those from grain-fed animals. Now I’m starting to miss all the goat meat that used to be so readily available in the province. Back there when you wanted goat meat all you had to do was look in your backyard. The neighbors’ goats was probably in there eating your flowers.
Didn’t know until now that kangaroo meat was edible … I really should watch the Discovery Channel more often.
