Manong Francine

The photo above was taken along the Remedios Circle, when Sam and I went on a photowalk on Mother’s Day weekend. We asked for Manong’s permission first, and he said yes. I wish I could have taken a better picture. When I see people with the same physique engaged in jobs similar to his, I wonder about all these men in gyms lifting a Kettlebell while these men on the streets get their muscles the natural way—through hard work.

Another thing I like about taking pictures of people in the street is that they have no qualms about photographers taking their picture—that is if we’re talking about regular city streets, and not places like Bonifacio High Street. In places like that you are more likely to get accosted for even pointing a camera at someone. Takes the fun out of street photography.
