Looking before leaping

Before you invest in more notebook memory because you feel your portable is running slow, check out other things that may be causing that slowdown.

One culprit may be the dwindling space on your hard disk. Run a good tuneup utility on your laptop to check if there are files that can be sent to data heaven. Check your recycle bin, if there is nothing there that you would be using again, empty it. If you’re on Windows, try defragmenting your disk.

Although notebook memory may not be as expensive as it used to be, having more memory may not be the necessary solution for a slow system. But then again, no one ever suffered from having a lot of it. :)

  2. couldn’t agree more. sometimes there are many unwanted that needs to be disposed first. then we may decide after that if we really need additional memory.
