Unheard of

Medicare supplement insurance is totally unheard of in the remotest of provinces. I don’t even think a package exists for the government and private employees in Metro Manila. In this country people are willy-nilly to go to a doctor or a hospital when they are sick, and prefer instead to self-medicate. I’m not going to be surprised if the Philippines were the top consumers of over-the-counter medicine in Asia. I believe in some countries a doctor’s prescription is required before anyone can buy antibiotics at a drugstore, but I know of some drugstores here that can issue them to over the counter buyers. I’m not really sure if it’s advisable to do that, both for the drugstore and the patient.
