The Philippine Village Hotel still commands an imposing view at the foot of the Centennial Airport in Pasay City here in the Philippines. Once very popular because of its proximity to both domestic and international airports, it now stands unused, a testimony to any government’s inability to make the best of anything.
This building could be an income earner, a job provider and a tourist destination all in one. It sits right beside the Nayong Pilipino, also fallen to neglect because of bad governance. All the goverment needs to do is to put it in the right contractors hands, put in the usual fixtures such as Delta faucets and amenities, train and hire the locals nearby — and turn it into a showcase for both labor and management.
Instead it sits there, a shell of its former grand self. The government should know better.
