The dreaded rainy season is when we all stay at home the minute we see storm clouds forming in the morning sky. This is when a steady downpour that lasts for more than 30 minutes turns into a flood that invades the house and sinks the goulds pumps that pump water our deep well into the house for washing and cleaning, and therefore we have to turn off power at the main switch before it shorts itself out.

It happened before, during Typhoon Ketsana, known here in our country as Ondoy. Now that I remember it was almost two years ago, but for all the destruction it brought, the memory of Ondoy isn’t likely to be forgotten in a long time.
