The Internet can remember everything, yet everything on the Internet is ephemeral. It is the nature of the Internet to recall everything yet it is this nature that makes us easily forget in time the daily episodes that we cheer, boo, toast and ballyhoo. The sheer volume of events can hold our attention only for the briefest of moments as each one slides with each second into the past. We no longer save news clippings in a scrapbook. Instead we summon the past with Google, and then X the browser when we are done.
