I’ve done my share of configuring routers in my day. And as more years go by I think more and more that the simpler things are, the better. My comfort zone is just a few notches above plug and play. I need a bit of control here and there, especially in terms of URL filtering, which is very important since I have minors in the house on the ‘Net.

One thing I’m looking at is the difference between (and advantages of) an online DNS provider which also offers URL and keyword filtering vs. a physical router with the same features. There is OpenDNS for the former, but I have yet to find a router around the house that I can configure without tinkering with it too much. I do have a cheap CDRKing one, which I refuse to use again.

Will save up for a linksys, methinks.
