Being an occasional online buyer myself, I have never understood the usefulness of online coupons such as buy.com coupons, till I realized they’re really the same as the ones I can cut out from newspapers and magazines. It’s surprising how these coupons do actually work — discounts of 5% or 10% may not mean much to some people, but when one is on their last few pesos that’s when the appreciation comes in. Discount coupons and cards, store loyalty cards — especially those where you don’t have to shell out any cash for — does help one’s budget. I remember one time when I had to buy a can of my daughter’s powdered milk, which cost just under P500, and discovered that the points on my customer advantage card were enough to cover the purchase. That was a huge relief for me, and from then on I had never passed up the chance to use any discount coupons or freebie cards from the establishments that I regularly go to.

The office should have found a better source for our personalized gift giveaways. The latest ones we have are portable USB drives which, while quite useful, have proven to be a bit unwieldy. It’s made out of heavy metallic material and swings on a swivel cover when attached to a computer tower.

USB drives are a good giveaway items these days, because almost everyone has some sort of use for it, whether they have a computer at home or not. Especially useful are those USB drives I’ve seen that are shaped and can be worn like bracelets.

It’s been a year and a month since I first got my Nikon D60 DSLR camera, and yearly events are starting to sound familiar now that I’m hearing about them for the second time.

This year’s Aliwan Fiesta will take place on April 22-24, which is Thursday to Saturday. Pretty much like last year’s schedule, now that I’ve looked at my picasa album from the first time I did some shooting at the Aliwan.

I’d like to shoot at the Aliwan again this year, just to see if I can come up with better photos after a year.

A Rimowa store is now open at the Powerplant Mall. This store carries just about the most fascinating luggage I have ever seen, but also the most expensive. It’s the main reason why I haven’t gone inside the store to look at and try out any of their bags. I am very much tempted to do so, nevertheless, because I’d like to have a strong bag for my camera equipment when I’m traveling by air. There are times when it is not possible for me to lug the Tamrac with me and I need a durable case that will keep my equipment safe. I wonder if the Rimowa will do …

I quit smoking more than 5 years ago, after my OB-Gyne told my husband and me to quit all vices if we wanted to have a baby this late in life. I was in my very late thirties and my husband was merely 4 years younger.

Having said that, I probably will have no need to know where to obtain cigars online, but I’m putting it here for the benefit of those who do. Cigars remind me of my late grandfather. He smoked Alhambra Coronas if I remember correctly. Days after he died the house would smell of it every now and then. That was him, checking up on us
