Just like starting over
My husband was in Cebu for several weeks last month, but it was not like the usual business trip. He and his partner had to setup an office and a house, and I was kidding him through text telling him it was just like moving into an empty house all over again. We were quite familiar with that, moving into empty houses, having done so three times in the past eight years.
It was a challenge to find a store for wholesale housewares, because there were times when the budget wouldn’t cut it and then again there were those lucky times when money was not an issue. But then again you would want the best value for your money either way.
My husband and his colleague planned to shop at Tabo-an Market to get the best deals, but they ended up at Unitop for reasons of convenience. I guess that’s the other factor these days, the convenience of buying things makes one overlook the slightly higher price.
Visita La Union
The Gaerlan Family finally had our outing to La Union last weekend. A long planned and oft postponed trip, but at long last it happened. Maia had been nagging at us to take her to the beach, and it had been a long time since we visited Daddy Toming’s grave. My camera, although a year old now, has never shot San Juan, the Gaerlan hometown, and so there were several reasons for going.
Accommodations was never the problem, it was finding a way to get there that proved to be difficult. We appreciated the Gaerlan house, although partially unfinished and did not have any Kohler kitchen faucet, which was quite comfortable and convenient as well.
From there we could walk to the Plaza Amparo and to the Church of San Juan, and it was only a short ride to the beach and the watchtower.
We didn’t spend as much time there as we wanted. We left Manila early in the morning of Saturday, stayed overnight into Sunday and was back in Manila shortly after midnight on the following Monday. Next time we should plan a longer stay.
Things start to sound familiar after a year …
It’s been a year and a month since I first got my Nikon D60 DSLR camera, and yearly events are starting to sound familiar now that I’m hearing about them for the second time.
This year’s Aliwan Fiesta will take place on April 22-24, which is Thursday to Saturday. Pretty much like last year’s schedule, now that I’ve looked at my picasa album from the first time I did some shooting at the Aliwan.
I’d like to shoot at the Aliwan again this year, just to see if I can come up with better photos after a year.
Traveling light
My irregular trips to Masbate have lasted from three days to three weeks, and I have always wanted to pack as light as I could even during a three-week stay. I’d like to be able to pack lightly in something I could get from Eagle Creek luggage, especially something like the Eagle Creek Exploration 2 ORV Gear Bag. But I have traveled either with a big bag that contained too much and was far too heavy, or one that was light but could not contain everything I needed without necessitating a second bag.
There must be some skill involved in packing, and it’s something that apparently I don’t have
