Never thought I’d see the day when I’d win anything — ANYTHING — on the internet. No, I did not win a gazillion dollars for my bank account, but something that can mean a lot of interesting visits across the blogosphere.

2000 Entrecard Credits!I won 2000 Entrecard Credits! I had blogged about the new features available at Entrecard, which among others include the consolidation of multiple blogs into one account, their e-book Say Hello to the Blogosphere!, and using the RSS feed for the Top Ten droppers on my blog.

This morning I got a short but really sweet email saying I’ve won 2000 EC Credits and sure enough when I checked my Dashboard, there they were! I had all but depleted my credits when I went on an ad-buying spree the other day, but now I have 2000 EC Credits!

Yey!

Taking a chance

When life is all about taking a chance, factoring comfort and privacy into the game may greatly increase your fortune.

A number of advantages may be found in gambling at an online casino within the comfort of your own home, behind the reasonable security of a firewall and the convenience of a high-speed internet connection. And when you have sites that tell you where the good places are to take your best chances, and offer good advice to both the beginner and the experienced gambler, you’ve almost got it made. All you need now is for Lady Luck to smile on you, and your lucky angel to stay your hand when greed attempts to take the better of you.

As with any endeavor, it doesn’t hurt to gather all the information available on the general aspect of online gambling. The links are abundant, and the advice is solid. Avoid clicking on the flashy banners that take you where you may not be ready to go. Read up before mounting up. Make sure you understand that this is real money you are betting with, and that you understand fully what charges will actually be made on your credit card. When you feel confident enough, find a game that suits you. And, of course, you will be advised to be level headed, to know when to stop and walk away.

After all, that’s what life is all about. You give, you take. Sometimes you’re lucky enough to be able to stay for quite a while. But in the end we all have to walk away.

Bonne chance.

Phishing for PayPal

Phishing attempt for PayPal Account Having just signed up with PayPal I have been paying close attention to emails I receive whenever I modify details on my account.

While I was scouring my Gmail Spam folders for emails that may have been inadvertently caught, I found one that should be a great concern to other PayPal users like me. It’s an email message that looks exactly like official correspondence from PayPal, but on closer scrutiny proves to be a phishing scam.

Phishing is a form of Internet fraud that aims to steal valuable information such as credit cards, social security numbers, user IDs and passwords and the like.

This particular email apparently from PayPal aroused suspicion as soon as I saw it.

  • Reason #1: I did not register for PayPal with my gmail account.
  • Reason #2: The link URL’s that show on my browser’s status bar tell me that the links embedded in this email are NOT authentic PayPal links, but were made to appear like they are.
